NetMark International has been involved in software development
projects since 1981, and web development projects since 1993.
NetMark currently manages and/or advises on dozens of complex
web sites or software projects each year. Some of these
projects range from concept to completion, while others focus on
end user ergonomics and internal functionality.
Using
advisors skilled in IT management and contract programmers,
NetMark designed and launched one of the first .com web sites on
the Internet. NetMark continues to tweak this site for its
client.
NetMark
also was one the the firms selected to debug the functionality
of a major retailing portal site during the summer of 1999, prior to its
launch. NetMark continues to work with that client on
features and functionality of this web platform.
NetMark
advisors have been the lead project leaders on the development
of proprietary software to manage thousands of monthly requests
for quotation and millions of dollars in business in specialized
industries. One of these process management packages for
quoting, sales and shipping control is being reviewed for
launching into the general marketplace in competition with Act,
Goldmine, Sales Nexus, Salesforce.com, and other competitors.
Its functionality resulted in an inside employee reduction of
50% and an increase of 100% in successfully closed business,
simultaneously. |
Successful
web launches are accomplished in four phases: 1) Preplanning,
where the end product is talked out and storyboarded in concept;
2) Investment planning, where all the components of graphics,
design, layout, content, programming, end user ergonomics,
process efficiencies, back office operations, people, office
space, internal systems, launch costs and marketing expenses are
quantified for their viability, investment requirements,
projected revenues, operating costs, variable and fixed expenses
and financial return analyses; 3) Launch Debugging, where
glitches typically require crisis resolution and most of the
hair-pulling and nail-biting occurs and; 4) Ongoing Operations,
when the business is actually up and running on a day to day
basis.
Each of
these phases is analyzed and evaluated in the preplan, and
revisited as time moves forward and operational reality sets in.
This increases the likelihood of success and uncovers speed
bumps and rabbit holes so they can be avoided.
End User Dysfunctionality & SEO
Nothing
makes end users leave your web site faster than having to hunt
and peck to find the information they want. Most web sites
are incorrectly built as vertical monsters, where visitors have
to click pages and pages deep trying to discover what they seek.
Want proof?
Just measure how many end users click more than three times.
The percentage will be tiny, and that means everything below
that is virtually useless. End users have limited attention
spans - if the search engine doesn't take them right to the
desired page, they are back out in two clicks or less.
That means
you need design, SEO, and the proper information segmentation to
get visitors to the pages you want them to find.
If your web
site seems a bit dysfunctional, contact us to discuss how it can
be improved. Isn't that simple? |
